How This Equipment Works
PicoPlus delivers energy in picosecond (ps) pulses, one trillionth of a second. Even with the same energy, the short irradiation time gives a high instantaneous peak output, destroying pigment with photomechanical and photoacoustic shock stronger than heat.
Whereas conventional nanosecond lasers break pigment into relatively large fragments, picosecond lasers deliver a much shorter and stronger shock, shattering pigment into even finer particles. The finely broken pigment fragments are gradually processed through the skin's natural metabolic process, which can also help reduce the thermal stimulation lingering in surrounding tissue.
By using multiple wavelengths, it can treat everything from shallow blemishes in the epidermis to deep melanin pigment in the dermis, matched to the depth and type.
